# Repository activity and inbox

See commits, pull or merge requests, issues, and build results from GitHub or GitLab.

## Enable repository activity

1. Add a [GitHub or GitLab connection](/guide/connections/git-providers/).
2. Open a project's **Sources**.
3. In a repository's menu, choose **Enable GitHub activity** or **Enable GitLab activity**.
4. Choose the saved connection and repository, review its settings, and save.

Use **Activity settings** in the same menu to revisit the configuration. A remote URL or local Git checkout alone does not grant provider API access.

## Read and refresh activity

The repository activity area shows the latest known commit on the default branch, along with issues, pull requests (GitHub), merge requests (GitLab), and build results where available. Build summaries show whether a run is in progress, passed, failed, or cancelled.

Use **Refresh** in the activity section you want to update; use **Load more** when another page is available. Select an item to open it on GitHub or GitLab. Rescanning a local folder does not refresh this remote activity.

Check the saved observation time and state. Offline, Orbit shows saved activity. If a refresh fails, the previous successful result may remain visible with an error. Reconnect a failed account or wait for a provider's retry time as directed.

## Set up the project inbox

Open **Edit project**, enable **project inbox**, choose its scope, and save. The inbox appears in **Overview** using the project's connected repositories.

Choose **Needs my attention** for review requests, requested changes, failed checks, and issues assigned to you. Choose **All open activity** for the broader view.

Choose whether **Automatic inbox refresh** is enabled. With it off, use the inbox's Refresh control. Use **View all** or **Load more** to see additional items and select an item to open it at the provider.

## Disconnect activity

You can disconnect a repository's activity without deleting its local checkout. Removing the saved provider connection disconnects repositories using that account and removes its cached activity. Source folders and project tasks remain.
