# Links and favourites

Save reference URLs with categories and notes, then keep important links close.

## Add a link

1. Open the project's **Overview**.
2. Select **Add a link**.
3. Enter the URL and an optional name. A descriptive name makes a dashboard or design file easier to recognise.
4. Optionally add a category, such as “Design” or “Deployment”, and Markdown notes.
5. Select **Add link**.

Categories group links in the overview; uncategorised links appear together. Notes can hold access instructions or setup context. Store credentials in [Secrets](/guide/secrets/vault/) instead of link notes.

## Open, copy, and inspect

Select a link to open its destination. Its context menu includes opening it, copying its URL, viewing **Details**, editing, and deleting. Details show the URL and saved notes without requiring you to open the destination.

To update a saved URL, choose **Edit**, change the fields, and save. Deleting a link removes the bookmark from Orbit; it does not change the remote page.

## Mark favourites

Use a link's star or **Favourite** action to keep it in the Favourites group. Use **Unfavourite** to return it to its normal category. You can also star a document to mark it as important, such as a brief or setup guide you revisit often.

## Turn notes into links

With [scratchpad AI](/guide/integrations/scratchpad-ai/) connected, use **Generate actions** to suggest links from URLs in your notes. Review the proposed links before saving. Without AI, this works only when the scratchpad contains a single URL and no other text.

Saving a suggested link leaves the original notes unchanged. See [scratchpad notes](/guide/knowledge/scratchpad/) for the full workflow.
