# Search and keyboard shortcuts

Find projects and their content, use commands, and navigate without a mouse.

## Find a project

Open the dashboard and use **Search projects**. Combine a search with **Status** and **Tag** filters. Use **Clear filters** to return to the full list. **Previous** and **Next** move between result pages; the displayed count describes the projects shown on the current page.

The sidebar's search helps find a project without leaving the current screen. Its project order is organised within status groups.

## Search workspace content

Press **⌘ K** or choose **Search workspace**. Search projects, document text, scratchpad notes, cards, links and their notes, file and folder names, attachment names, and secret metadata. Secret values and uploaded file contents are excluded.

Use the arrow keys to select a result and **Enter** to open it. Results can lead directly to a card, document, or other item. Add more specific words or use the filters below when there are too many matches.

Inside a project, use the search field beside its section tabs to search that project's content. This differs from **Search cards** in Tasks, which filters the board, and the filename search in Assets.

### Filter syntax

Add a `type:` or `project:` filter to your query. Quote project names containing spaces:

```text
type:task login
project:"Client website" deployment
type:document project:"Client website" setup
```

Available types are `project`, `document`, `task`, `link`, `secret`, `scratchpad`, `asset`, `folder`, and `attachment`. Use one filter of each kind. Project filtering matches project names; the remaining words search the selected content. Results show up to ten matches per type, so narrow the query when more are available.

When search is empty, recent destinations help you resume work. **Clear recent items** removes that navigation history without deleting the project content.

## Run a workspace command

Workspace search also includes commands such as **New project**, **Go to dashboard**, **Settings**, **Connections**, and **Tools & runtimes**. Appearance commands can switch to Light, Dark, or System theme, reduce motion, or mute and unmute interface sounds.

## Keyboard reference

These shortcuts refer to the macOS desktop app. **⌘** means Command, **⇧** means Shift, and **⌥** means Option (also called Alt). Focus a control with **Tab**; use **Shift + Tab** to move back.

| Shortcut | Action |
| --- | --- |
| ⌘ K | Open or close workspace search. |
| ⌘ N | Create a project. |
| ⌘ ⇧ H | Go to the dashboard through the native Workspace menu. |
| ⌘ , | Open Settings through the native Workspace menu. |
| ⌘ 1–9 | Open the corresponding visible project on the dashboard, outside text fields and dialogs. |
| / | Focus project content search while viewing a project, outside text fields and dialogs. |
| ↑ / ↓, then Enter | Navigate and open a workspace search result. |
| Escape | Close search or a dismissible menu or dialog. Unsaved drafts may require a decision. |
| ↑ / ↓ on a project or settings handle | Reorder projects within a group, statuses, or default task columns. |
| ⌥ ↑ / ⌥ ↓ on a document title | Reorder project documents. |

For cards, use the context menu's **Move card up**, **Move card down**, or **Move to list**. List menus have **Move list left** and **Move list right**, so board organisation does not require dragging.
