# General, appearance, and sounds

Choose startup behaviour, theme, motion, sidebar appearance, and interface sound settings.

## General settings

Open **Settings → General**. **On startup** chooses where Orbit opens, such as the dashboard or your last project. **Launch at login** opens the desktop app when you sign into your computer.

Use **Take a tour** to revisit the introduction without resetting your workspace. The same tour is available from the native Help menu.

## Appearance

Open **Settings → Appearance** to change:

- **Theme:** Light, Dark, or your system theme.
- **Sidebar translucency:** how much of your desktop shows through the sidebar; zero is solid.
- **Reduce motion:** limit animations or follow the system preference.
- **Pointer cursors:** show a hand over interactive controls.

Save the changes you want to keep. Workspace search also provides commands to switch themes and change motion settings quickly.

## Sounds

Open **Settings → Sounds**. Toggle **Interface sounds**, adjust **Volume**, and use **Test sound** to preview the level. Zero volume is silent. Sounds provide feedback for actions and completed tasks.

You can mute or unmute sounds through workspace search.

## Saving and discarding

Use **Save changes** to apply the settings draft, or **Discard changes** to return to the saved values. If you navigate away with pending edits, choose whether to save, discard, or keep editing.

Some settings, such as PIN setup and connection forms, have their own save controls. Finish the action in the relevant form rather than assuming a different section's Save button applies it.

If another window changed settings, use **Review latest saved settings and keep draft**, compare your draft with the saved values, and save again. Save or discard settings drafts before importing a workspace or restarting for an update.
