Introducing Orbit
Introducing Orbit: a desktop workspace for keeping your projects, tasks, notes, files, and repositories together.
TL;DR
- Give every project a home for its work and reference material.
- Organize tasks with customizable boards.
- Keep repository activity and project context close.
- Turn rough notes into actions with AI.
- Store your workspace locally on your Mac.
Your projects, together
Create projects with custom icons, statuses, and tags. Link your local folders and repositories, save useful links, and keep important documents within reach.
Filter projects by status or tag, duplicate a project and its saved content, and archive projects when the work is done. Duplicated projects retain references to linked source folders; they do not copy your code.
Tasks and knowledge
Each project gets a task board with customizable lists and draggable cards. Add Markdown descriptions and attachments, or create tasks directly from selected document text.
Capture quick thoughts in an autosaving scratchpad. Use Markdown documents for briefs, decisions, and setup instructions, and organize uploaded files into folders.
Notes into actions
Connect OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini using your own API key to turn scratchpad notes into suggested tasks, documents, links, and project updates.
Review and edit the suggestions before saving. You choose what gets applied, and your original notes stay intact. Generating suggestions sends your notes and basic project context to the selected provider.
Orbit also connects to AI clients through MCP, letting you work with your projects from a supported assistant.
Repository context
Link local folders to inspect your project’s Git details and dependencies. Check supported dependencies for available updates and published security advisories without leaving the workspace. Orbit shows when check coverage is incomplete.
Connect GitHub or GitLab to see issues, pull or merge requests, and build results. Enable the project inbox to bring review requests, assigned issues, and failed checks into your overview.
Project secrets
Keep credentials organized by project, environment, and service in an encrypted, PIN-protected vault.
Reveal or copy values when needed, configure automatic locking and clipboard clearing, and import or export environment files.
Find your place
Press ⌘K to search across projects, tasks, documents, notes, links, and file names. Jump straight to a result or run a workspace command.
Choose a light, dark, or system theme, adjust motion and interface sounds, and set Orbit to reopen your last project.
Stored on your Mac
Your projects and saved content live locally, with core workspace features available offline. AI suggestions, repository refreshes, and online dependency checks require a connection.
Export and import workspace archives containing projects and uploaded files to back up or move your work. Secrets, connection credentials, and linked source code are excluded.
