Upload files and folders
Open Assets and choose Upload files, or drag files into the asset area. Dropping a folder reads its contents and can preserve its folder organisation. Wait for “Reading folder” and the upload progress to finish.
Each file can be up to 10 MB. A project supports up to 100 files and 100 asset folders. Adding an asset saves a copy in your local Orbit workspace. To work with code in its original location, link its folder under Sources instead.
Organise files
Choose New folder, give it a name, and select its parent under Inside. Open folders to browse and use the breadcrumbs or Back to parent folder to move up.
Use an item’s menu to Rename or Move it. Select several items for a bulk move, choose a destination, and confirm. Renaming a file changes its name in Orbit and the filename used for download; it does not rename the original file you uploaded.
You can also drag items to asset folders. Use the Move action when you prefer a destination picker.
Search, filter, and change view
Search matches file and folder names across the project, including items outside the currently open folder. Use Type to filter files, and Sort to change ordering by name or size. The view buttons switch between tiles and a list. Clear filters when an expected file is hidden.
Select several items to move or remove them together. Review the selected count and the confirmation before removing anything.
Preview and download
Use Preview for supported images. If an image cannot be previewed, use Download instead. Other files can be downloaded for use in their usual apps. Workspace exports include the uploaded files.
Remove files and folders
Removing a file deletes Orbit’s saved copy. Removing a folder moves any contents you have not selected to the nearest parent folder that remains, or to the top level of Assets.
For example, if you remove a folder without selecting its files, the files are kept and moved up. To remove those files too, select them explicitly and review the removal dialog.
Deleting an uploaded asset removes Orbit’s saved copy. It does not delete the original file from your source directory. Export the workspace first when you need a recoverable archive.
