Paste tasks and create cards from text

Import a plain-text task list or turn selected document text into a card draft.

Paste a list of tasks

  1. Open Tasks and choose Paste tasks.
  2. Paste one task title per line.
  3. Select Preview titles.
  4. Review the titles, deselect entries you do not want, and choose the destination List.
  5. Select Create selected cards.

The preview allows up to 200 selected cards. Split longer lists into batches. Duplicate titles already in the project or repeated in the selection are flagged; review and edit them before saving.

This is useful for moving a checklist or planning notes into Orbit. It does not need an AI provider.

Create a task from a document

Open a saved document, select the relevant text, then choose Create task from selection. Orbit opens a task draft. Review its title, description, and destination list, then select Create card.

Select up to 10,000 characters. For a long specification, select one actionable section at a time rather than using the whole document. The document remains available as reference.

Create tasks from scratchpad suggestions

The scratchpad’s Generate actions control can propose cards alongside links, documents, and project-detail changes. Review the proposal, edit each title, and select its task list before saving. This workflow uses your optional scratchpad AI connection for AI suggestions.

Review before saving

Previewing titles or opening a task draft does not create saved cards. Confirm the selected items and destination list, then complete the save action. If a conflict occurs, reload the current board and review the batch against its latest contents before retrying.
